Top 3 Ways to Transform Dull Skin into A Radiant Glow
One of the most common concerns we hear at SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic is that a new client’s skin is looking dull, lifeless and sallow. We’re happy to tell them that the skin’s natural glow can almost always be restored through proper care. To get to the heart of the issue, we typically ask about a client’s existing routine, to suss out which missing steps are keeping their skin from shining bright. Read on for the key questions we ask.
Are you exfoliating?
Overlooking this crucial skin care step will definitely lead to dull skin. Without regular exfoliation, a dead layer of cells sits on the surface of your skin causing it to appear lackluster, preventing your serums and moisturizers from penetrating and, at times clogging pores and leading to breakouts. A gentle acid-based exfoliation 2–3 times a week creates healthy, well functioning and yes, glowing skin! We formulated that powerful, yet gentle triple-acid Uplifted Exfoliating Gel for exactly this purpose. It’s great for normal and dry skin types. We recommend Transformed Detoxifying Toner for oily, acne-prone skin.
Are you applying a hydrating, water-based serum?
Let's talk dermal layer. It’s the second layer of the skin and it houses collagen, elastin and water. When this layer is neglected, your skin is essentially malnourished—and malnourished skin is going to be less than radiant. Feeding your dermal layer a water-based hydrating serum packed with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and nutrients will nourish it, resolving fine lines and wrinkles and leading to that healthy, well-hydrated glow. Our Awakened Hydrating Serum is a powerful water-based serum packed with peptides, antioxidants and dermal-layer loving hyaluronic acid. This cult favourite is our number-one seller.
Are you applying a stable form of vitamin C every morning?
Vitamin C is the most effective skin brightener. In addition to playing a big part in restoring your glow, it stimulates collagen (alongside its BFF, vitamin A), and protects the skin from environmental damage. However, don’t just grab any serum claiming to contain vitamin C. The vast majority of products don’t contain a stable form of the nutrient, meaning they’re oxidized—and useless—by the time they reach your skin. Look for a vitamin C in a stable powder form that’s designed to be mixed into a serum, such as our Illuminated Vitamin C Powder.
