Energize and Detoxify with a Himalayan Salt Soak

by Jasmine Pahl

As we unfurl into the growth and renewal of spring, it’s a perfect time to shuck off beliefs that no longer serve us, and let them compost into the re-growth of another season. A ritual salt bath is a great way to kick off this process.

Use Himalayan pink salt for your bath. It’s mined from an area that’s around 800 million years old and it has a gentle and wise vibration. Pink salt is also highly detoxifying. For a physically detoxifying bath, you’ll want to use around two pounds of salt. For an energetic detox, almost any amount will do, because it’s your intention, in collaboration with the salts, that creates the magic. Give yourself around two hours to perform your ritual.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • Sage wand
  • Himalayan pink salt
  • Journal and pen
  • Candles

Directions
Arrange candles in the bathroom. Find a quiet place to sit in meditation for a few minutes with your pen, journal and sage wand nearby. Light your sage wand and smudge yourself well.

Before you begin meditating, ask aloud “What do I need to let go of?” Write down anything that comes up. Sit in meditation for 10–15 minutes. When you finish, write three pages of whatever comes into your head. Re-read what you’ve written, circling any areas that stand out. Set an intention of what you’d like to release. Go into the bathroom, light the candles, and draw the bath. As the water is running, pour the salts into the bath and say the following aloud.

“Grateful salts, blessed be.

Release anything that isn’t me.”

Turn off the lights, climb into the bath, and let the salts work their magic. You don’t have to think or do anything in particular; just allow the healing to happen. When you’re finish, visualize whatever you’re releasing peacefully draining away. Make sure to rinse the tub out well. Equinox blessings!
